Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information TrailRunningCompare (trailrunningcompare.com) collects, why, and the choices you have. We only collect what we need to run and improve the site.

Last updated: October 4, 2026

1.When you browse

You can use the site without an account. Through analytics tools we then collect technical data such as your browser and device, your approximate location from your IP address, and the pages you visit, to measure traffic and improve the site. If you’re signed in, this data is linked to your account.

2.When you create an account

If you sign in, for example with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from that provider. We also save the language you use the site in and the page you signed in from, to understand which parts of the site are useful.

3.What you save and publish

We store what you do with your account: the races you mark as entered or as wanting to enter (with your distance), the products you save, and the reviews, ratings and questions you publish. Reviews and questions are public. Your saved races are private, although we show anonymous totals such as “12 runners want to register”.

4.How we use it

To run your account and the features you use, to show you relevant content, to send you the emails described below, to measure and improve the site, and to prevent abuse. We don’t sell your personal information.

5.Emails

We send you a welcome email when you create an account and, if you mark a race as “I want to register”, an email when its registration opens. To stop those, remove the race from your races. We don’t send you marketing emails without your permission.

6.Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, to remember your language and preferences, and to measure traffic with analytics tools. You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings.

7.Services we use

Some providers process data on our behalf: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (traffic and usage analytics, which use cookies), Google and other sign-in providers, Stay22 (accommodation near races, shown on race pages), an email delivery provider and an AI provider (to answer the questions you ask). Some of them are outside the European Union, mainly in the United States: in those cases we rely on the safeguards they offer, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The shops we link to have their own policies.

9.Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to delete your account, by writing to us. We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when you ask us to, unless the law requires us to keep it.

10.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site changes. We’ll update the date at the top, and we’ll clearly announce any important change.

Any questions?

Write to us and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
